Most of our clients know that we provide heritage

Most of our clients know that we provide heritage and GIS services in British Columbia and Alberta, but we also service Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Yukon and Northwest Territories! In all of these places, we can provide our suite of services: field assessment (HRIA/AIA), desktop assessments (SoJs/AOAs), GIS, monitoring, and anything else you might need to meet regulatory requirements for archaeology and heritage/historic resources.

What you might not know about GIS services is that you need a particular platform and a licence to use it. Did you know that the standard for GIS is ArcMap (and soon to be ArcPro)? Use of this software requires licenses through ESRI, as well as training and experience. At Circle, we have eight licenses, along with multiple staff members with B.GIS degrees from SAIT. We love the utility and efficiency this software brings and try to use it to its fullest.

Spotted 👀 Check out this good-looking crew that received some ATV Training at Whitecourt All-Terrain before starting our field season. Now, if you don't mind, we'll take this opportunity to pump the tires of @whitecourtallterrain as one of our favourite partners to work with in the field. We've been working alongside their company since 2016, back when they were a relatively small operation with a couple of quads and UTVs. Since then, they have grown by expanding their inventory, adding Argos to their fleet, and becoming an official @argo_xtv dealer.

We can't express how much we appreciate their team and how they go above and beyond for us. The amount of care and attention to detail that goes into the maintenance of their vehicles and the care for their customers is unmatched. We also love that if things go south, they are always there to rescue us (and sometimes even bring coffee and treats along on their rescue mission 🤗)!

Yesterday, @margdeguzman was the host of an intimate gathering of women archaeologists of all kinds sponsored by @circledigs and @digtmhc! It was truly a wonderful evening of networking with fellow consultants, students, academics and museum professionals. You better believe Margarita, and co-host @Laureenbryant pretended to be Oprah and Gail during discussions regarding each other's strengths, weaknesses, struggles and wins that led them to reach the success they have today. Thank you to @dallayeg for having us in their space! We already can't wait for next year's event.

@amandolin.wong started with us as a GIS Practicum Student in 2016. In fact, we can recall her first words at the Chacmool Career Fair.
"Hi, I'm Amandaaa and here is my resumeee."
We didn't have a dedicated GIS person at the time, but instead, a couple of talented people who were self-taught in GIS and then, in return, taught others. Amanda came in, and her robust skillset quickly made everything so much more efficient. Throughout her short 6-year career at Circle CRM, she has filled the role of GIS Technician, Assistant Archaeologist, Assistant Project Coordinator, Production Coordinator, and now (drum roll please) Manager of Technical Services! In her new role, Amanda ensures all our internal functions that support field projects deliver a consistent and quality product. Thank you, Amanda, for being such a Rockstar 🪨👩🏻‍🎤. We can't wait to see what the future holds for you!

We're happy to share that Circle CRM is a Platinum Sponsor of this year's Canadian Archaeology Association's Annual General Meeting and Conference, happening in Edmonton from April 27 to 30. Our team has also been heavily involved in the planning committee for this event. @margdeguzmanam is serving as the Chair of Events, Workshops, Field Trips, and Fundraising, Jenn is the Treasurer, Kristin is in charge of swag, and Alex and Erika are in charge of the AGM Conference Program. It's a lot of work! On top of that, Circle is sponsoring and hosting the CRM Pub Night at Campio and the Women in Archaeology Event at Dalla. Basically, we wanted to plan a party and then roped some staff into helping make this a great conference.

Since 2018, Circle has hosted a multi-day event to kick off the field season, which officially starts in May. In the past, this has included internal presentations, external guest speakers, and team-building activities. This year, we brought in @stackdconsulting for a full afternoon session on being a better coach; we now all know the difference between management and coaching and will be better communicators and leaders for it. We also had a writing workshop, our own Amazing Race, learned about Metis archaeology and told our individual stories about how we got into archaeology. This year we also had a private restorative yoga session (thank you, @ningyoga1) and a Catan tournament at @thehexcafe!

We are now rested, invested, and ready to hit the ground running. Look out for our team coming to a small town near you!
